Brexit Adjustment Reserve

Parliament adopted its position on a proposal to adjust the amounts allocated to member states under the Brexit Adjustment Reserve, a fund set up in 2021 to help them cope with the effects of the UK's withdrawal from the EU. The adjustment is a technical, financial and legal change that aligns the fund's regulation with a reduction agreed during the mid-term revision of the EU's long-term budget, without affecting funds already paid out or transferred. Once the amended regulation is adopted, the Commission can update the implementing decisions that set the final national allocations.

2026 budgetary procedure: joint text

Parliament approved the joint text on the European Union's general budget for 2026, agreed by the Conciliation Committee. This adoption makes the budget Parliament's official position, confirming the joint statement with the Council and noting the Commission's statement. Parliament's President will declare the budget definitively adopted and arrange its publication in the Official Journal.

2024 budget: assessing the implementation of the gender mainstreaming methodology in the EU budget

European Maritime Safety Agency

The European Parliament approved the Council's position on a regulation updating the mandate of the European Maritime Safety Agency (EMSA). The adopted provisions aim to better reflect EMSA's new tasks in maritime safety, sustainability, decarbonisation, and training, with balanced governance rules. The act is now adopted in line with the Council position, and Parliament will sign it for publication in the Official Journal.

Renewing the EU-Africa partnership: building common priorities ahead of the Angola Summit

Parliament adopted a resolution setting out its priorities for the EU-Africa partnership ahead of the EU-African Union summit in Luanda, Angola, on 24 and 25 November 2025. The text calls for making the fight against illegal migration a priority, negotiating readmission agreements with African Union member states, and linking development funds to cooperation on returns. It also demands that the EU's Strategic Partnership with South Africa be conditional on ending discrimination against the Boer minority and compensating victims. Parliament asks the Commission and Council to act on these points and forwards the resolution to EU institutions, member states, the UN, and the African Union.
