Parliament adopted its position on a proposal to strengthen security of identity cards and residence documents for EU citizens and their families. The proposal follows a Court of Justice ruling that the previous law was based on the wrong legal basis. Parliament approved the Commission's proposal as amended and calls on the Council to inform it if it intends to depart from the text.
