Combating corruption

Parliament adopted its position on a proposed EU directive to combat corruption, replacing existing rules and updating criminal offences. The directive sets minimum standards for defining and sanctioning corruption, including bribery in public and private sectors, and adds new offences like concealment of corruption proceeds and misconduct in public office. Parliament also strengthens prevention measures, protects whistle-blowers and victims, and aligns rules with the UN Convention against corruption.
