Parliament objected to a Commission draft decision that would authorise selling products made from genetically modified soybean MON 87705 × MON 87708 × MON 89788, which is tolerant to glyphosate and dicamba herbicides and has an altered fatty acid profile. The objection was adopted, so the Commission measure is blocked and the soybean cannot be placed on the market in the EU. Parliament cited concerns about the lack of a full assessment of the complementary herbicides and their effects on health and the environment.

Agreements on Financial Mechanisms for the period May 2021 - April 2028 (EEA: EU-Iceland-Liechtenstein-Norway; Norwegian: EU-Norway); Additional Protocols to EEC-Norway Agreement and to EEC-Iceland Agreement

The European Parliament gave its consent to agreements setting up EU financial mechanisms with Iceland, Liechtenstein and Norway for May 2021 to April 2028, plus additional protocols on fish imports. These arrangements provide a financial contribution to economic and social cohesion in the EEA, with new concessions and flexibility on unexhausted quotas. Protocol on the Implementation of the Fisheries Partnership Agreement between the European Community and the Republic of Guinea-Bissau (2024-2029)

Parliament gave its consent to the EU's conclusion of a new protocol to the fisheries agreement with Guinea-Bissau for 2024-2029. The protocol lets EU vessels fish for tuna, cephalopods, shrimps and demersal species in Guinea-Bissau waters. The EU will contribute €85 million over five years, with €4.5 million per year for sustainable fisheries management and local communities. Parliament also asks the Commission to keep it fully informed on the protocol's implementation and renewal.

EU-Norway Agreement: modification of concessions on all the tariff-rate quotas included in EU Schedule CLXXV as a consequence of the United Kingdom's withdrawal from the European Union

The agreement adjusts EU tariff-rate quotas with Norway after the UK's withdrawal from the EU, following WTO rules. Parliament gave its consent, allowing the Council to adopt the decision and the agreement to enter into force. The changes revise shares for pig meat and skimmed-milk powder quotas, based on updated trade data.

Conclusion, on behalf of the Union, of the Protocol (2024-2029) implementing the Fisheries Partnership Agreement between the European Community and the Republic of Cabo Verde

Parliament gave its consent to the EU's conclusion of a five-year protocol to the fisheries partnership agreement with Cabo Verde, allowing EU vessels to fish tuna and related species in Cabo Verde's waters. In return, the EU will pay Cabo Verde an annual financial contribution of 780,000 euros, partly for access to fishing resources and partly to support the development of Cabo Verde's fisheries sector. The protocol aims to promote sustainable fisheries management, decent working conditions, and the fight against illegal, unreported and unregulated fishing.
