The law aims to protect sensitive EU agricultural sectors by allowing swift, proportionate measures when imports from Mercosur countries cause or threaten serious injury to EU producers. Parliament asks the Commission to refer the matter back if it substantially amends its proposal, and to forward its position to the Council, the Commission, and national parliaments.
