1. Air passenger rights

   Parliament approved the joint text on air passenger rights, updating rules on compensation and assistance for denied boarding, cancellation, or long delay of flights. The adopted law maintains the existing three-hour delay threshold and compensation amounts, and introduces new rights such as free hand baggage in price displays and free seating for children under 14. It also requires airlines to inform passengers digitally of their compensation rights and to provide free boarding passes, while creating a Union Air Passenger Rights Label.

2. Air passenger rights

   Parliament adopted its position on the law updating EU rules on compensation and assistance for air passengers when flights are delayed, cancelled, or boarding is denied. The position aims to preserve existing passenger rights, simplify claims, and extend the rules to more flights, while capping airline costs for hotel stays in extraordinary circumstances. It also strengthens protections for passengers with disabilities and children, and codifies court rulings to increase legal certainty.
