Parliament adopted a resolution on implementing the Urban Wastewater Treatment Directive and risks to medicine supply security. It supports the directive's environmental goals but worries that higher-than-expected costs and the polluter-pays scheme could hurt medicine availability and EU manufacturing. MEPs ask the Commission to run an independent study by early 2027 and to suspend the extended producer responsibility rules until its findings are assessed.
