    The draft Commission regulation would move monacolins from red yeast rice from Part B to Part A of Annex III to Regulation (EC) No 1925/2006, prohibiting their use in foods, including food supplements. Parliament had considered that the draft regulation exceeds the implementing powers under Article 8 of that Regulation and fails to respect the principle of proportionality.

    The Commission proposed a delegated regulation on origin labelling for fruit and vegetables from Western Sahara, a non-self-governing territory distinct from Morocco. Parliament rejected the objection to this measure, so the Commission's regulation will go ahead. The resolution had objected that the labelling could mislead consumers about the true origin, contrary to EU food information rules.
