Parliament calls on the Commission to withdraw its draft implementing decision and not to renew the authorisation of the GM soybean. It also asks the Commission to require an updated assessment of nutritional and compositional changes, to take account of current risk-assessment methodologies, and to strengthen post-market monitoring.

Parliament had considered that the draft regulation exceeds the implementing powers under Article 8 of that Regulation and fails to respect the principle of proportionality.

Parliament instructed its President to forward the decision immediately to the competent authority of Italy and to Matteo Ricci.
