Member States should adopt stricter measures to safeguard owners, including faster eviction procedures for illegal occupants and adequate compensation for lessors affected by illegal occupation; considers that the excessive length of proceedings, contrary to legislation, is a violation of the right to an effective remedy within a reasonable time, as enshrined in Article 47 of the EU Charter of Fundamental Rights.
