- "In order to carry out investigations, within the limits of its mandate, the European Parliament’s committees of inquiry may: invite the Commission to designate one or more of its members and hear those members, as well as representatives of EU Agencies, if their testimony is considered to be of material importance and necessary for a thorough appraisal of the matter under investigation and obtain evidence from officials and other servants of the Commission and EU Agencies";
