Reiterates the paramount importance of protecting the rights of the child in all actions of the Union; expresses grave concern over the findings of the United Nations Independent International Commission of Inquiry on Ukraine regarding the deportation and forcible transfer of Ukrainian children to Russia, as documented in its reports; underlines the need for the European Union, within its competences, to act as a constructive and reliable actor within the international legal and institutional framework, contributing to multilateral efforts aimed at identifying affected children, clarifying their whereabouts, supporting family tracing and reunification, and facilitating their safe return, in accordance with international law and the best interests of the child; stresses that Union policies and funding instruments should consistently support international cooperation for the protection of children’s rights, access to remedies, rehabilitation and reintegration, as well as accountability for serious violations of international humanitarian law and international human rights law;

47 a. Recalls the temporary “solidarity contribution” introduced by Council Regulation (EU) 2022/1854 during the energy crisis, which applied to profits exceeding by more than 20% the average taxable profits of the previous reference period; notes that this measure generated approximately EUR 28 billion in revenues across the Union in 2022 and 2023; calls on the Commission to propose a renewed and updated framework for such a contribution, based on the average taxable profits generated in the fiscal years 2022 to 2025, applying the same threshold and ensuring that the applicable rate is not lower than the rate applied under Regulation (EU) 2022/1854, in order to address continued risks of excess profits in the fossil fuel sector and to ensure a fair contribution to public finances;

(iv a) take the necessary measures to ensure that trainees who find themselves in a situation where they have reasonable grounds to believe that there is a serious and imminent danger or an infringement of their moral integrity, their rights, or their dignity, may immediately withdraw from that situation until it has ended or until they have been duly informed that the reasonably presumed danger or violation no longer exists. Exercising this right has no effect on the continuation of the internship, unless the intern decides otherwise. Nor does it affect the intern’s evaluation or compensation;
