Recalls that the foundations of the EU project included the well-being of people as a pillar and considers that, regardless of any geopolitical, security and socioeconomic challenges, the EU cannot disregard the social and fundamental rights dimensions on which it was built; requests that the Commission duly take into account the well-being of individuals, including the most vulnerable, in all existing and upcoming EU policies, and to include food and health security in its political security agenda; | 122. Recalls that the well-being of Europe’s peoples is the sole responsibility of sovereign Member States and firmly rejects any further encroachment by EU institutions into areas such as social policy, health and welfare; calls on the Commission to cease competence creep, to strictly respect subsidiarity and to leave such matters to be determined at national level in line with each country’s own priorities and democratic will; |

Opposes any measures aimed at restricting or prohibiting access to social media and websites through mandatory age verification or identity verification requirements; rejects, in particular, the deployment of digital ID-based systems, such as mobile applications, enabling the generalised identification of users online, in the light of the disproportionate risks such mechanisms pose to fundamental rights, notably the right to privacy and freedom of expression; stresses that the protection of minors should primarily rely on parental authority and appropriate control tools, rather than on broad state surveillance mechanisms; |
