Emphasises that food security and food sovereignty are vital components of strategic autonomy and that the next MFF must continue to support the Union’s farming and fisheries sectors, including small and young farmers and fishers, and help the sectors produce food in an effective, competitive and sustainable way; highlights the crucial role of the common agricultural policy (CAP) in increasing productivity through technical progress, ensuring a fair standard of living for farmers and guaranteeing food security; calls for the maintenance of the two pillar structure of the CAP and for independent and adequate funding for the CAP in the next MFF;
