    Monacolins from red yeast rice

    The draft Commission regulation would move monacolins from red yeast rice from Part B to Part A of Annex III to Regulation (EC) No 1925/2006, prohibiting their use in foods, including food supplements. Parliament rejected the text, so it did not oppose adoption of the draft Commission regulation. Parliament had considered that the draft regulation exceeds the implementing powers under Article 8 of that Regulation and fails to respect the principle of proportionality.
