Recognises that conflict over access to scarce resources, endemic poverty, and insufficient opportunities to achieve a stable livelihood are driving insecurity and fuelling violence in northern Nigeria; | 7. Recognises that the targeted attacks against churches and other Christian institutions in Nigeria are driven by Islamist motives; supports the ongoing international efforts to combat terrorist organisations such as Boko Haram and the Islamic State West Africa Province, which are attacking, killing and displacing Nigerians, particularly Christians, and calls on the authorities to take immediate, concrete measures to prevent and respond to their terrorist attacks; |
