Expresses profound concern that the EU, rather than championing diplomacy, has become largely irrelevant in the design of peace initiatives, despite the war taking place on its continent and having direct consequences for EU citizens; deplores the EU’s persistent militaristic posture, its refusal to promote dialogue, its uncritical alignment with strategies that have prolonged the conflict, and its inability to articulate an autonomous and credible peace agenda; calls for the EU institutions to actively support and facilitate a peace process, drawing necessary lessons from previous experiences so as not to repeat past mistakes; calls for the EU to actively work towards a durable and comprehensive peace agreement addressing the root causes of the conflict, grounded in the principles of the Helsinki Final Act and of the UN Charter, including collective security, military restraint, disarmament commitments, transparency and mechanisms to avoid escalation; |
