Recalls its resolution of 17 June 2026 on Türkiye; in the context of Türkiye hosting the COP 31, reiterates its strong concern about the Turkish government’s deliberate erosion of democracy and the rule of law and its gradual consolidation of an autocratic system leading to questions concerning the participation of political and environmental activists in COP31, including elected officials and opposition politicians, notably the unlawful removal, detention and political case against the Mayor of Istanbul and CHP presidential candidate, Ekrem İmamoğlu, lawyers, journalists, and human rights defenders, environmental and LGBTIQ+ activists and preventing their participation; |
