Recognises that the EU’s objective of achieving climate neutrality by 2050 and the green transition may pose an existential threat to the EU’s competitiveness and social stability; calls on the Council and the Commission to provide just, pragmatic and socially balanced policies; stresses the need to ensure technological neutrality, with particular attention to traditional industries, notably the automotive, energy-intensive (such as chemicals and steel), aviation and shipping industries; stresses the need to prevent administrative and financial burdens on Member States and businesses; calls on the Council and the Commission to ensure the EU’s stability, competitiveness and prosperity for present and future generations;
