Reiterates its call for innovative, complementary and flexible interaction between the ongoing work on the implementation of the EU-Ukraine Association Agreement currently in force and the accession negotiation process, thus allowing for Ukraine’s gradual integration into the EU single market and sectoral programmes;

Reiterates its call for innovative, complementary and flexible interaction between the ongoing work on the implementation of the EU-Ukraine Association Agreement currently in force and the accession negotiation process, thus allowing for Ukraine’s gradual integration into the EU single market and sectoral programmes; firmly opposes, however, any further liberalisation of trade with Ukraine beyond the current framework unless and until full alignment of production standards and regulatory requirements is achieved, particularly in the agricultural sector; stresses that any easing of customs duties or safeguard measures must remain strictly conditional on Ukraine meeting the EU’s rigorous standards and must be accompanied by clear guarantees of compensatory mechanisms, including subsidies, ensuring the protection and competitiveness of European producers operating within the EU; underlines that the Member States neighbouring Ukraine have been disproportionately affected by surging imports resulting from autonomous trade measures and must not bear the burden of unfair competition;
