Expresses deep concern at the growing pattern of restrictions on freedom of expression and freedom of assembly in the UK, including instances of criminalising lawful political speech and the disproportionate policing of online and offline expression; calls on the UK authorities to ensure that any legislation or regulatory framework affecting free speech, including in the digital sphere, remains strictly necessary, proportionate and compatible with democratic pluralism, and does not impede discussion on matters of legitimate public interest, such as public safety, crime, migration or the protection of minors; |
