65a. Considers it unacceptable that Ukraine deliberately targeted the Druzhba oil pipeline, being fully aware of its indispensable role for the energy security of Hungary and Slovakia; states that these attacks do not primarily harm the Russian Federation, but rather undermine the security, welfare and economic stability of Hungary and Slovakia, members of the very community that Ukraine is eager to join; recalls that in its statement of 27 January 2025, the Commission stated that the ‘integrity of the energy infrastructure supplying EU Member States is a matter of EU security. The Commission expects all third countries to respect this and is ready to take measures to protect critical energy infrastructure such as electricity cables and oil and gas pipeline or facilities’; in this context, expresses grave concern regarding the continued silence and inaction of the Commission in the face of recent actions by Ukraine that deliberately threaten the energy infrastructure of Member States, notably Hungary and Slovakia; emphasises that the lack of meaningful response may be interpreted as the Commission’s alignment with a third country against its own Member States in a matter of national sovereignty and security; calls on the Commission to take immediate measures to protect critical energy infrastructure, in line with its aforementioned statement; urges the Commission to clarify its position on these attacks; stresses that Member States cannot be left vulnerable on account of political considerations;
