25e. Underlines that the salaries and benefits of the highest-ranking EU officials, such as heads of directorates, are very generous, often exceeding EUR 250 000 annually; is concerned that these disproportionately high salaries distance them from the everyday lives, needs, and struggles of citizens; stresses that such remuneration does not effectively prevent corruption, as some EU officials have already been implicated in past corruption scandals, such as Qatargate;
