European Parliament decision of 10 March 2026 on the proposal for the appointment of the Chairperson of the European Banking Authority (N10-0004/2026 – C10-0020/2026 – 2026/0802(NLE))

– having regard to the Council’s letter of 4 February 2026 proposing François-Louis Michaud as Chairperson of the European Banking Authority (C10-0020/2026),

– having regard to Article 48(2) and (3) of Regulation (EU) No 1093/2010 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 24 November 2010 establishing a European Supervisory Authority (European Banking Authority), amending Decision No 716/2009/EC and repealing Commission Decision 2009/79/EC,2009/78/EC,

– having regard to its resolution of 14 March 2019 on gender balance in EU economic and monetary affairs nominations,

2. Instructs its President to forward this decision to the Council, the Commission, the European Banking Authority and the governments of the Member States.

EXPLANATORY STATEMENT

This report has been drawn up following the Committee on Economic and Monetary Affairs' exercise of the powers granted to Parliament under Regulation (EU) No 1093/2010, in particular Article 48 thereof, and following the Committee on Economic and Monetary Affairs' established procedures in the matter of appointments to regulatory and supervisory bodies in the economic and financial domain.
