In addition, the Commission makes the following statement:
The Commission has announced a revision of EU rules on public procurement for the second quarter of 2026, with a view to enabling and facilitating the use of sustainability, resilience and European-preference criteria in procurement.
In this context, the Commission will examine how public procurement, while respecting single market rules and international obligations, can support sustainability objectives and a European preference. These objectives will support also European food policy and products which originate from small farms, are locally produced and marketed from short supply chains.
